Celebrating Heritage Week 2009 and International Nurses' Day.

The Association held a function to celebrate Heritage Week 2009 - "The Making of Queensland" and International Nurses' Day as part of the Mothers' Day Markets at the Rockhampton Heritage Village on 10th May.

From 9:00 am until 11:00 am, members were in attendance at the Lakes Creek Cottage to present a PowerPoint display on the past hospitals of Central Queensland and to show off parts of the Collection including the Iron Lung and other items of nursing and medical history. The Iron Lung has been thoroughly checked and rewired and was actually in operation on the day. Committee members highlighted the exciting developments underway at the adjacent building (the former Mt Morgan Hospital Nurses' Quarters) which was then in the final stage of refurbishment to become the permanent home of our Collection.

From 11:00 am until 11:45 am, there was an Ecumenical Service to celebrate International Nurses' Day which fell on May 12th. This was held in the historical St Peter's Church at the Village.

Following this, participants were invited to join members of the Committee for refreshments sponsored by Hillcrest Rockhampton Private Hospital.
