| Description | The photograph shows an aerial view taken ca. 1954 of the Rockhampton Hospital precinct bounded by Canning, North, Quarry and Cambridge Streets Rockhampton. Major features in the photograph are the original hospital buildings at centre-left, the Lady Goodwin Maternity Hospital in the centre-foreground and the multi-storey nurses' quarters building which had been opened in 1954 in the rear. The boiler house is in the foreground on the corner of North and Quarry Streets. On the Canning Street side are (L to R): the Outpatients'Department, the Dental Clinic and the Superintendent's residence. Buildings in the centre of the photograph include the army huts used as temporary nurses' quarters between late 1945 and 1954. |
