Description | The photograph shows Miss C. M. (Kitty) Lewis who took up the position of Matron at the Rockhampton General Hospital in 1964 and served until 1966. This was her first appointment as Matron. She replaced Matron Margaret Graham. Prior to joining Rockhampton Hospital she had been Deputy Matron at Townsville. She undertook her training in Charleville and also completed a Diploma in Nursing Administration in Melbourne in 1961. This photograph appeared in The Morning Bulletin with the caption 'Matron Lewis had a word for Lynnette Murcha, of Woorabinda, when she visited the Childrens Ward on her rounds yesterday'.
