Description Sister Alice Ethel Imison trained at the Rockhampton Hospital from January 1914 until January 1917. She enlisted in the Australian Army Nursing Service in August 1917 as a Staff Nurse and sailed from Sydney on the Anchises on 8th August 1918. She served in the Kangaroo Point Hospital in Brisbane and Bombay, India, and Lahore, Pakistan. She returned to Australia in October 1919 on the Marathon and was discharged medically unfit in February 1920. This photograph shows Alice wearing the AANS working nurses uniform in 1917. Nurses did not normally wear the cape while working in the wards.
