Title | Rockhampton Hospital Staff Christmas 1910 |
Description | The photograph of Rockhampton Hospital staff in 1910 was provided by Ms Anne Prince whose Grandmother, Nurse Beryl Campbell, trained at the Rockhampton Hospital from September 1908 until September 1911. Beryl was the 37th nurse to train at the hospital. The photograph was accompanied by a handwritten sheet with the names and dated 25.12.1910. This information has been supplemented by cross-checking ACHHA records for the names of staff at the Hospital at the time and adding given names. They are: Front row (L to R): Nurse Edith Toft; Matron Rose Christmas; Dr G. L. Murray (Medical Superintendent); Nurse Howard; Mr J. Daley (Dispenser); Second row: Nurses Edith Dawbarn; Agnes Norton; Grace Homewood; Amy Hall; Mary Dunn; Back row: Nurses Winifred Knight; Beryl Campbell; Caroline Griffiths; Eva James (Probationer); Mary Price. Nurse Howard did not train at the hospital. However, from her position in the photograph she is most likely a senior nurse from another hospital brought in to strengthen the nursing team. Nurses Campbell, Griffith, Norton, Price and Toft enlisted to serve in World War 1. |
