Description The photograph shows Nurse Thelma Robbins at the Rockhampton Hospital ca. 1954. She is in uniform in front of one of the nurses quarters buildings which were in use between 1945 and the opening of a new Nurses Quarters at the Rockhampton Hospital on 11 July 1954. The veil which she is wearing was known as a “Butterfly Veil”. This organza veil was worn by nurses who had successfully completed all of their examinations and were continuing with their fourth year of practical training within the hospital prior to graduation as Sister and registration after the full four-year nurse training program..
