Retirement of Hospitals Board Secretary, Cecil Pritchard, 1975
Title Retirement of Hospitals Board Secretary, Cecil Pritchard, 1975
Description From 1925, public hospitals in the Rockhampton region were managed by a Hospitals Board. Mr Cecil Albert George Pritchard was appointed to the full-time position of Secretary to the Board in January 1942 and continued in the position until his retirement on 21 Nov 1975. The function which is the subject of this photograph was held on 22 Nov 1975. It was attended by Mr Pritchard and his wife, Jean, along with (L to R): Mr John Provan, Rockhampton Hospital Medical Superintendent, Mr Edward (Ted) Loane, a Magistrate who was also the Hospitals Board Chair, Mr Noel Livingstone, Deputy President of the Hospitals Board (at back) and Ald Rex Pilbeam, Mayor of Rockhampton. The term ‘Secretary’ did not accurately reflect the overall duties of the role which was better described as ‘Manager’. Resource procurement and management was another important part of the role.
