Description | Alderman Leonard Garfield Haigh, one of five Government representatives on the Rockhampton Hospitals’ Board, was appointed on 08 August 1932. At a meeting on 02 June 1933, he was unanimously elected Chairman of the Board. Mr Haigh served in this role until his death on 16th February 1953. At the time of his death, Mr Haigh had held the position of district secretary of the Australian Meat Industry Employees Union since 1924. He served for many years as an alderman on the Rockhampton City Council and had also been Chair of the Capricornia Regional Electricity Board in its early days as an operating authority. This is a large format photograph which was originally framed. It was part of a set commissioned by the Board to honour its Chairmen from 1925 - 1953. The photographs were hung in the Board’s meeting room. The size of the actual visible photograph is 27.7 cm x 38.0 cm. |
