Description | In 1925, the Queensland Government decided to amalgamate all publicly funded hospitals in Rockhampton and adjacent areas under the management of a single Rockhampton Hospitals’ Board. Mr Thomas Butterfield Renshaw was elected as Chairman on 28 January 1926 and served until 21 March 1929. Mr Renshaw had been Chairman and member of the Rockhampton Hospital Committee for about ten years prior to its abolition at the time of the amalgamation. Mr Renshaw had been born in England on 22 Sep 1863. On his resignation from the Board he travelled to England on holiday and died there on 04 Jun 1929. Mr Renshaw was Mayor for a short period. He was co-owner of a successful commercial building company which was responsible for the construction of many notable buildings in Rockhampton and the Central West. |
