Title | Horse drawn hospital float, World War 1 Victory Celebrations |
Description | This photograph on a postcard shows nurses in uniform on a horse-drawn float. Handwritten notes on the back mention a street parade in 1918, so it is quite possible that this float was one of many in a large procession held in Rockhampton in 12 November 1918 to celebrate the signing of the armistice which ended World War 1. Annotations on the back also state that Nurse Elizabeth Amy Crudgington who trained at the Hillcrest Hospital is second on the driver's left. Elizabeth graduated from Hillcrest Hospital on 18 Sep 1922 after four years of training. |
