The graduating students in the front row (L to R) are Ivy Baker, Elizabeth Watts (Sister Madonna) and Val Clair. The students in the other two rows are wearing butterfly veils indicating that they have completed all of their examinations but are continuing to gain practical experience in the hospital prior to graduation and registration with the Queensland Nurses Registration Board in 1957.
