Description The photograph shows Matron Sarah Maud Green with nursing staff at the Rockhampton Hospital ca. 1940. Names on the rear of the photograph identify a limited set of those present as follows: Front Row (L - R) Phil Daniels (Ryan), ??, ? Austin, I. Dennison, O. Glazebrook, ??, ??, ??; Back Row: Sally Ingram, ??, Audrey Griffith, Sr. Baker, Sr Jeffries, ? Allen, Matron Green, Phil McKenzie (Curran), ??, ??, ??, Sr Easton. In 1929, Miss Sarah Maud Green was Matron at the Women's Hospital located in West Street. She then transferred to the position of Matron at the Lady Goodwin Maternity Hospital when it opened on the North Street site in September 1930. Just after that she was appointed Matron of both the General Hospital and the Lady Goodwin Hospital and held the positions from 1930 until 1944.
