Though born in Australia, Dr Talbot joined the British service in World War 1 because the Australian Army believed at the time that it had recruited a sufficient number of doctors. Dr Talbot served in France and was awarded a Military Cross for Gallantry (announced in The London Gazette 14 December 1917. |
