| Description | This group of nurses was photographed in uniform at the Rockhampton Hospital in 1957. They are (L-R): Jane Curran; Kath Moriarty; Nancy Crapp; Niree Hardy and Una Bryson. The veils being worn were known as Butterfly Veils. They were worn by nurses who had completed their examinations but were continuing to gain practical experience prior to their graduation and registration with the Queensland Nurses Registration Board. The starched organdie butterfly veil was half the size of the 36 inch square veil worn by sisters. |
