Description | The photograph show a Christmas scene in the Children's Ward at the Rockhampton Hospital on Christmas Day 1939. Traditionally Members of the Board and the Matron visited the decorated wards on Christmas Day and prizes were given to the best decorated wards.
An accompanying Morning Bulletin article reads as follows: "Red, white and blue were the colours chosen for the Children's Ward. The Australian and British flags were in prominent positions as was a Christmas tree from which Father Christmas (Mr W. R. Thomson) handed presents to the children. Sister K. Jeffries was assisted by Nurses Jones, Rose, McKenzie, Ingram, Cheeseman and Reid". |
