Description As part of the ceremony, Mrs Elizabeth West (Betty Francis) was identified as the person at the Wake with the earliest association with nurses' quarters at the Rockhampton Hospital (dating to 1944). She cut the celebratory cake (donated by The Cheesecake Shop) and was presented with flowers. Photos of Betty West at work dating back to 1948 are part of the ACHHA collection. Also in the foreground of the photograph (L to R) are Phillis Butcher (Jenkins) who trained from 1946 - 1949 and Doris Holmes (Gebhard) who trained from 1945 - 1948. ACHHA Treasurer Kay Smith (Anderson) is taking a photograph while Adele (Dell) Rogers (Keding) looks on. Dell, who is the Nurse Manager - Informatics at the Hospital played an instrumental role in organising the function and bringing it to fruition on the day.
