Title | Panoramic view of the Rockhampton Hospital ca. 1940 |
Description | This panoramic view of the Rockhampton Hospital will have been taken between 1930 when the Lady Goodwin Hospital and associated lift building at the rear of the photograph was constructed and 1945 when the long line of wooden buildings in the front was destroyed by fire. These buildings, which had been relocated from the former Children's Hospital, were being used as nurses' quarters at the time of the fire. Careful scrutiny of the photograph shows the Hospital's dairy herd under the tree on the left. It is not known at present when the dairy herd was phased out but it was still being discussed by the Board at meetings in 1940. |
